Hyde Park Spirit Week Just a reminder for next week's spirit days. This is our last spirit week of the 2015-2016 school year, so let's have some fun! Most days revolve around the theme of the 8th grade dance: "A Journey to Neverland." A Journey to Neverland Spirit Week:Monday, 5/9 - Find Your Shadow Day (aka twin day)Tuesday, 5/10 - Surfer/Biker Day (dress in your beach wear or your Harley wear. No chains.)Wednesday, 5/11 - Pirate/Pixie Day (dress as a pirate or a pixie in honor of Neverland's most famous inhabitants. Dress code still applies)Thursday, 5/12 - Never Grow Up Day (time to be a kid again!)Friday, 5/13 - Hyde Park Spirit Day - show your Panther pride for one last time this year.
Future Cities visited the White House Science Fair Hyde Park Middle School is the only school in Nevada selected to participate in the White House Science Fair, taking place this week at 1600 Pennsvlania Avenue.On Wednesday, April 13, the White House will provide a hands-on showcase of student innovation, all of which was researched, built and designed by the next generation of America's scientists. The Science Fair will include everything from robots to tools aimed at fighting cancer and climate change. President Barack Obama welcomed more than 100 top science, technology, engineering and math students from across the country to demonstrate ways of changing the future of America. Among them were Hyde Park Middle School students Sydney Lin, Krishna Patel and Isha Shah, known collectively as "Team Kilau." They designed a sustainable, waste-free, municipal city, winning awards for the Most Sustainable Buildings and City of the Future that Best Incorporates Cultural and Historical Resources.See the interview below from the East Lawn of the White House.
Hyde Park Future Cities Students are Showcased at the White House Science Fair Students from Team Kilau represented Hyde Park and Future Cities of Southern Nevada at the annual White House Science Fair. The students were among only 140 middle and high school students nationwide that were invited form 30 states. Our students were interviewed by White House staff, met the US Secretary of Education, and Bill Nye the Science Guy. Check back for a link to their interview.

A RAVE Review is an unsolicited special recognition that acknowledges a CCSD employee who has demonstrated a special effort, an outstanding job, a project of high quality workmanship and/or a caring and sensitive attitude. A RAVE Review is meant to acknowledge exemplary behavior or an example of going the extra mile. Take a moment out of your day to thank one of our amazing teachers or support staff members for that extra effort they provide everyday.

Big weekend for Hyde Park Hyde Park students competed in a variety of events this past weekend and brought home a lot of trophies. We encourage you to introduce your students to the DRC INSIGHT Online Assessments Tutorials, as they explain to the students how to navigate through the test and how to use the tools (basic calculator, scientific calculator, writing tools, protractors, etc.)
Hyde Park 6th and 7th Grade Field Trip Hyde Park is coordinating a field trip to Knott's Berry Farm for 6th and 7th grade students. Students must be in good standing with no major discipline infractions. The cost for the trip is $140.00 and includes park admission, bus transportation, and a meal voucher. Hyde Park MS Varsity Quiz places 3rd in competition. You will be pleased to know that on January 23rd, 2016 our Hyde Park Team placed 3rd at the Western High School Quiz Bowl Invitational.This event had Varsity Quiz Teams from Las Vegas and California. Hyde Park was the only middle school team in that tournament.Hyde Park beat all of the Las Vegas high school team and narrowly lost to 2 California teams. A special Thank you goes to Mr Nathan Webster for coaching our kids and for the time he gives to our NAQT club that he has taken under his wing.
