All students will be taking their first MAPs tests on Tuesday, August 31st, and Thursday, September 2nd, during zero-hour. We will be on a modified bell schedule those two days Please be sure your student has a good breakfast and brings their school-issued Chromebook fully charged on those two days.

Hyde Park will be holding its first virtual family event of the year on Thursday, 8/26/21, from 5:00 - 7:00. The topic will be Surviving Middle School, and parents will have their choice of sessions to attend from the following topics:

Conversations in the Kitchen, Online Resources for Secondary Students, Canvas, Transitions in Education: Thriving in Middle School, Socio-Emotional Learning, and Language Development at Home and at School ( a presentation for ELL families).

The sessions will last 30 minutes, so you can attend up to 4! Google Meet codes for each session will be posted to the Hyde Park Website the day of the event. See the attached flyer for more information.

On April 19, 2021, Clark County School District opened Online Registration (OLR) for the 2021-2022 school year.

The Clark County School District is collaborating with public libraries on the Summer Challenge. Students should continue building literacy skills by reading for at least 30 minutes daily. Students can win prizes. Contests run through July 31, 2021.

Through the Title 1 program at Hyde Park, we would like to invite you to join us for a series of informational meetings. There are 4 seminars to choose from between May 4 - 19th. Click this story for information and links to each seminar.

Sessions Include:

College Tips for Middle School Parents:
This one-hour session will provide you with tips on how to facilitate college and career conversations.

Preparing for High School:
This one-hour session will provide families with information about high school preparedness, types of diplomas, and creating an academic plan.

Conversations in the Kitchen: Enriching Family Communication:
This one-hour session will focus on the importance of families engaging in meaningful conversations around mealtimes and the benefits these conversations have on the social-emotional and academic success of students.

Canvas Observer Accounts for Parents:
This one-hour session will cover how Canvas Observer accounts can keep you informed on student activity and grant you access to the content your student(s) is learning.

Hyde Park Middle School is currently experiencing issues with our HVAC system. In addition, there is an excessive heat warning. We have just been informed that our air conditioning may not be fixed by this evening. So in an abundance of caution, we have decided to cancel our in-person Open House for this evening. We apologize for the inconvenience.

However, we will be providing a virtual Open House which will be available beginning Monday, August 16th. All information that would have been received in person this evening will be presented in the video and virtual format. Attached are some community-based summer opportunities for students. The Just One project is offering summer camps for students and Southern Hills Hospital has a Teen Talk program for social and emotional support for teenagers. Please see the attached flyers.

Some very awesome high school debate students are providing a "free" Speech & Debate summer camp for all CCSD middle school students who are interested in learning more about speech & debate. The camp runs from July 19-24 and will be virtual. This is a great opportunity for our students!
